hela Sverige Candela is a Swedish tech company with the ultimate purpose to speed up the transition to fossil fuel-free lakes and oceans. We strive to re-think efficiency in marine transportation to radically push the performance boundaries of electric boats and ships.
By combining sensors, computers and advanced submerged hydrofoils, our electric craft fly above the water, reaching speeds and range previously attained only by fossil fuel powerboats.
Thanks to their remarkable performance, Candela's craft are the best-selling electric boats on the market. Our first model, Candela C-7, quickly became Europe's best-selling electric boat after its introduction in 2019. Its successor, the bigger C-8 day cruiser, outsold the C-7 just 3 months after launch. We are also venturing into professional watercraft with the revolutionary foiling P-12 Shuttle.
We are now looking for a Powertraing Engineerto support Candela's growth ambitions.
About this role
As Candela continues its development of new products, we are looking for a highly motivated Powertrain Engineer to join the team. The Powertrain Team is responsible for defining, developing, testing, evaluating and supporting industrialization of the electric powertrain of our foiling electric boats. Our responsibility includes the complete propulsion system including cooling, as well as cabin climatization and low voltage actuators that controls the foil system. We are looking for a motivated team member with experience of working with our type of components and systems.
Core responsibilities:
Own the Propulsion system, from charging inlet to electric machines, as well as cabin HVAC and low-voltage actuators.
Define and set requirements for system, system behaviour and components.
Secure that the system can be certified according to applicable standards.
Evaluate and test performance, functionality and quality of the system.
Interact with and support the software team to help achieve ultimate functionality and performance of the control systems.
Support after market and service to ensure the best possible customer experience.
Support production and procurement to secure products with competitive quality and cost.

You are self propelled with a strong drive and feel confident to work in a dynamic environment with high pace, shifting focus and strong market presence.
You have fundamental knowledge of electric machines, motor controller topologies or batteries.
You have system experience and a good understanding of how to integrate components into a system, realizing complex functionality.
You have excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude
Join a stellar team
By bringing together some of the world's brightest researchers and engineers, we are pushing the boundaries of marine transportation. We take great pride in building engagement within our teams. Our internal motto is "with a revolutionary spirit and kindness", which translates into an open and honest work environment - we have a lot of fun while working hard to achieve our goals.
We are a 200-strong, multinational team of experts within dynamic modelling, hardware design, hydrodynamics, control theory, machine learning, structural engineering work and production to build the next generation of waterborne transport. This is a full-time position at our headquarters in Frihamnen, Stockholm. Working language is English, if you also know Swedish it will be a benefit for yourself, but it is not a prerequisite for the role.
