The Solar System Physics and Space Technology research programme at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) in Kiruna invites applications for a postdoctoral position in experimental space physics with the focus on particle measurements. The programme is well-recognized for its development of ion mass analyzers and energetic neutral imagers for the magnetospheric and planetary missions Freja, Viking, Interball, Double Star, Mars Express, Venus Express, Rosetta, Chandryaan-1 and BepiColombo. The programme includes a large technical group and possesses comprehensive manufacturing-, calibration- and test facilities.
The position involves development of high mass resolution plasma analyzers for future magnetospheric and planetary missions. The position requires a PhD degree in experimental space physics or such equivalent research experience as IRF may deem appropriate. Experience with ray-tracing software, e.g., SIMION©, is a merit but not a requirement.
The position is funded by the Swedish National Space Board and is a temporary employment for a duration of two years.
