hela Sverige Skilled and committed employees are a crucial factor in the success of Linköping University. And we need more of them. Our core expertise comes from teachers and researchers, but a successful university requires experienced and motivated employees in many fields. Everyone is important. We need to recruit many new employees thanks to, among all, an expansion in our research activity. We need you here. We look forward to receiving your application!
The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology conducts research and offers education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Research, the predominant activity, is often done in collaboration with corporate and international partners. We are one of the university's largest, oldest and most well known departments, encompassing five interacting scientific fields: biology, chemistry, material physics, applied physics and theory and modelling.

Hereby advertises a position as
Postdoctor in computational chemistry
formally based at division of chemistry at The Department of physics, chemistry and biology (IFM).
Duties
A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.
This position concerns computational chemistry research studies of chemical vapor deposition and atomic layer deposition processes. In these studies, modelling using molecular and periodic quantum-chemical density functional theory (DFT) computations will be performed, as well as chemical microkinetic simulations to study gas-phase and surface reactions and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to model realistic reactor situations. Development of computer codes for microkinetic and thermodynamic equilibria modelling may also be part of the research task. The research topic is mainly studies of CVD at low temperatures for group III nitrides and of similar chemical processes for other inorganic semiconductor or insulator materials, involving precursor design, phase diagram computations and kinetic simulations. The employee is expected to carry out scientific investigations and contribute to the development of the research area, and to participate in the supervision of PhD and undergraduate students. Some teaching may be part of the position. An important part of the work is the dissemination of the research by publication in internationally renowned journals and by presentations at scientific conferences. The research will be performed in cooperation with colleagues within the experimental as well as the theoretical research areas.
Qualifications
The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.
The PhD exam should be within the scientific area of computational chemistry or physical chemistry/inorganic chemistry with emphasis on computational chemistry, with documented experience of quantum-chemical computations applied to systems of relevance to semiconductor chemical vapor deposition processes. Education within the CVD area is desirable. We would like to see that you have documented experience also of theoretical studies involving microkinetic simulations and/or fluid dynamics simulations. Experience of quantum-chemical studies of surface reactions at inorganic semiconductor or insulator materials is a merit, as is experience of teaching physical or inorganic chemistry courses.
Appointment time
Two years.
Starting date
By agreement.
Salary
The University applies individual salary scales adapted to the experience of the employee and to the labour market.
