We are seeking a highly motivated person to conduct research in the intersection of silviculture and tree ecophysiology. The projects focus on how stand management have an effect on the ecophysiology and drought response in trees.
About the position
The post-doc will measure existing experiments, analyse data from these experiments and report in scientific journals. The experiments in the projects are conifer plantations in boreal and hemi-boreal conditions in Sweden. Here we can evaluate how spacing and density affect the resource availability for the individual trees and stand growth. Detailed measurements below and within canopy will be conducted for hourly and daily estimates of processes of water transports and photosynthesis will be synthesized together with yearly and periodically measurements of stand development.

The candidate will belong to the silviculture unit at the department and work in a silviculture team with focus on forest management for multiuse purposes, addressing issues on climate change adaptation and high-versus low intensity forestry. We use empirical and process based modelling, with input data from the National Forest Inventory and long-term experiments.

Your profile
The candidate must have a PhD degree in silviculture and/or forest management or a very similar subject. The candidate must have proven experience in data analysis of tree and stand data, described in scientific publications and/or thesis.

Extra merits are previous experience of in-field practical knowledge on ecophysiology-measurements techniques, design of forest experiments for stand management and experience of the tree species in northern Europe. The department sees a big value in candidates that are interested in teaching and supervision of undergraduate students. It is also an advantage if the candidate have a valid drivers license and proven experience in conducting field work.

As postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for candidates with a doctoral degree that is three years old at most.
