Working at Cytiva in the Life Sciences industry means being at the forefront of providing new solutions to transform human health. Our incredible customers undertake life-saving activities ranging from fundamental biological research to developing innovative vaccines, new medicines, and cell and gene therapies.
At Cytiva you will be able to continuously improve yourself and us - working on challenges that truly matter with people that care for each other, our customers, and their patients. With associates across 40 countries, Cytiva is a place where every day is a learning opportunity - so you can grow your career and expand your skills in the long term.
Cytiva is proud to work alongside a community of nine fellow Danaher Life Sciences companies. Together, we're pioneering the future of science and medicine, developing products that enable researchers in the fight to save lives.
We have now an exciting Postdoc position in Computational Chemistry that will be part of the multi-disciplinary Mistra SafeChem project involving computational chemistry, cheminformatics, machine learning and toxicology!
What you'll do
The successful candidate will apply state-of-the-art computational software and simulation techniques with the aim to develop predictive tools centered on reactivity predictions and their relationships to toxicity, coupled to predictions of hazards, e.g., genotoxicity and the induction of allergy (skin sensitization).
You will also contribute to the expansion of our computational toxicology research within Mistra SafeChem project that aims at developing advance predictive tools for toxicity prediction. For instance, we expect you to participate in application of traditional and/or modern machine learning techniques towards developing newer models and tools by utilizing knowledge from theoretical and quantum chemistry.
The project will involve collaborations with researchers in other disciplines, including toxicology, organic chemistry and computer science.
The work will involve close collaboration with industrial partners, institutes (RISE and IVL), as well as academic groups at KTH and Stockholm University.
The successful applicant will spend the post-doc period divided between the Cytiva site in Uppsala, Sweden and the RISE site in Södertälje, Sweden, but will be expected to interact with other partners within the program on a regular basis.
This is full-time, fixed-term employment of 1 year and could eventually be renewed for an extra year. The position is available immediately.
Who you are
We are seeking a hardworking and highly motivated computational chemist with a strong background in quantum mechanics, especially ab initio QM. Knowledge in biochemistry will be considered a plus. Further the applicant must have:
A Ph.D within the subject of the position
Demonstrated skills in computational chemistry and especially quantum mechanics
An excellent scientific expertise in the latest developments in computational chemistry
Excellent understanding of the physiochemical properties of compounds
Practical working experience in computational chemistry software
Very good oral and written proficiency in English
Track record of scientific accomplishment demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications
Good ability to manage own priorities and deliverables, both independently and in the team setting
Good programming skills in Python or R
Experience with machine learning methods and software is an advantage (e.g. toolkits such as scikit-learn, caret, rdkit
Good knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry principles
Selection and interviews will happen continuously and the last day of application will be 15th of October.
