We are looking for two Post Docs to the Department for Molecular Toxicology within Safety Assessment in Södertäje for work within the Innovative Medicine Initiative EU program (IMI).

The Molecular Toxicology Department at Safety Assessment, AstraZeneca R&D Södertälje, Sweden, is providing support in drug R&D from the early discovery phase to late stage development.
Post Doc 1:
The role
The focus will be on bioanalytical methods for measurement of endogenous metabolites. You will develop and implement a GC-MS platform for molecular profiling of biological samples. The methods will be used for analysis of plasma and urine samples from patients with various drug induced liver injuries.
Minimum experience/requirements
PhD in analytical chemistry or a biological discipline with a focus on bioanalysis
Documented skills of GC-MS as a tool for bioanalysis.
Experience of LC-MS
Experience in structural elucidation of small organic molecules.
Strong computational background.
Post Doc 2:
The role
The focus will be on data analysis of large biological data sets. Biostatistics methods will be used to discover and validate safety biomarkers. Candidate biomarkers will be put into a biological context using various bioinformatic tools.
Minimum experience/requirements
PhD in a biological science with a focus on computational methods or biostatistics.
Documented skills in biostatistics
Strong background in biochemistry.
Knowledge in a broad variety of bioinformatic tools e.g. pathway mapping, text mining
Experience in data analysis of large complex dataset e.g. various omics datasets.
In addition to your scientific skills you will also need an entrepreneurial personality with the ability to network with other researchers and well suited to working in a result-orientated environment. You will need a supportive and communicative attitude and enthusiasm to work within and contribute to the multi-disciplinary field of biomarker research and molecular toxicology.
Preferred experience/requirements
Experience from drug R&D and knowledge in toxicology, pharmacology is considered highly advantageous. Knowledge from various analytical platforms e.g. Mass Spectrometry and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance is advantageous as are experience from programming in e.g. JAVA and Matlab and knowledge of database systems such as Oracle.
