In our role as corporate research unit we ensure ABB's technology competitiveness now and in the future. We monitor, identify and develop the latest technologies in close collaboration with our business units, ABB's customers and leading universities worldwide. As a part of the team at Corporate Research you will work with leading researchers in different fields, developing next generation technologies and systems.
We are developing technology for the next generation collaborative robots where spatial as well as functional barriers between human and robot are blurred out. With us you will develop tomorrow's flexible industrial robotic systems with focus on ease-of-use and robustness in applications based on machine vision and other types of sensors, machine learning and effective human-machine interaction. In this role you will be part of projects with close collaboration with business units within ABB and with external partners as part of our collaboration projects. Examples of ongoing collaboration projects include H2020 projects SARAFun (
www.sarafun.eu ) and SYMBIO-TIC (
www.symbio-tic.eu ), both with focus on cognitive robotics in a manufacturing setting. Current research interests include multimodal perception, machine learning, and human-robot interaction modes. The position extends over a period of two years.
You have a technical Ph.D in relevant area. Demonstrated experience of applying machine vision and learning in robotic applications is considered a merit.
To succeed in this position, you should be capable to work both independently and in a team, and to establish collaborations both ABB internally and externally with leading research organizations and universities.
You will be working in an international environment. It is therefore required that you have good communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.
