Pathologist in gastroenteropathology
Job summary
We are looking for a full-time consultants/staff pathologists (anatomic/surgical pathologist) preferably having European Board Examination in Pathology.
About the position
The anatomic/surgical pathology department includes close to 100 employees, comprising phy¬si-cians, molecular biologists, laboratory technicians and autopsy assistants. Currently the medical staff is comprised of 24 consul¬tants/staff specialists and 9 residents. The department is organised in production processes ( autopsy, histology, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, molecular pathology and electron microscopy) and organ oriented diagnostic groups (gastrointestinal-, gynaecological-, urological/nefro- , respiratory tract and head-and-neck-, breast-, dermato-, haemato-, neuromuscular- , endocrine-, perinatal-pathology). In general the consultant's obligations among others are to participate in routine diagnostics, to supervise residents, to prepare and revise clinical instructions, to participate in appropriate developmental and quality assurance work, to participate in appropriate cancer working groups (Multi Disciplinary Teams) and to contribute to research activities.
Position qualifications:
The ideal candidate should be certified in surgical pathology and cytopathology. The applicant should master techniques related to autopsy, grossing of surgical samples and be able to interpret results obtained in histology and cytology applying among others techniques such as histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, immunfluorescense and molecular pathology. The applicant should have received basic training (residency) in all areas of pathology, i.e., cardiovascular diseases, respiratory, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, genital, urinary, hematopoetic, nervous, endocrine systems and breast, bone and joints and skin.
In addition to the above, the applicant should be trained (fellowship) and experienced in gastrointestinal pathology including pancreas, hepato and biliary system. The applicant should possess good proficiency in frozen sections diagnostics, grossing, diagnostics based on assessment of sections stained applying various techniques and molecular pathology.
The applicant should have signed out independently at least 1000 to 5 000 cases. The ideal candidate pathologist is required to provide a wide range of on-site services in all areas of the pathology including autopsy, surgical pathology, frozen sections, cytology and biobanking.
