Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions. As the transport and mobility ecosystem is becoming increasingly integrated, partnerships will play a key role in this journey of developing Scania's role in the future transport system. As new technologies are increasingly pioneered by entrepreneurs, Scania recognizes startup collaboration as an important enabler to solve key challenges and extend our business.

The Innovation Office is a part of Research & Innovation Office at Scania R&D. By working in explorative innovation projects as well as supporting the organization in various innovation management practices, we aim to strengthen Scania's ability to turn research into tangible business opportunities.

We now seek a driven and visionary business developer who seeks to tap into the startup ecosystem to find innovative solutions to critical challenges for Scania. We are looking for an entrepreneurial project manager who sees the industry as a value network where new opportunities can be found by looking beyond established value chains.

The role

In collaboration with other industry leaders in the area of transport and mobility, we now start the program Accelerate Swedish Partnerships with the aim to establish an efficient model for collaboration between startups/SME and OEMs in Sweden in the areas of automation, connectivity and electro-mobility, covering technologies, services and solutions.

The program will run over a four year period with the goal to develop 14 proof of concepts annually. We base our internal process on a venture client model with four steps; identify, search, select and implement. Your task is to coordinate this process in close collaboration with representatives from the strategy office, digital office, case owners as well as our startup ecosystem partner Combient Foundry. The analysts at Combient Foundry are experts on matchmaking and will support Scania in finding the right startup for each specific case.

The role is cross-functional. A need for new startup collaborations may be identified in any part of the organization and you will be working closely with different internal stakeholders like communication as well as purchasing in order to support the initiatives. You will also engage in activities with other Combient companies as well as researchers from IMIT to build new knowledge within this area.

This is an opportunity for you to create new organizational capabilities at Scania for managing startup collaboration. Earlier examples have already testified the potential in this new way of working for Scania, but now it's time to turn these learnings into long-term successfully repeatable processes. Collaboration between big and small companies is characterized by cultural and organizational differences.

We believe that you, with a strong understanding of both parties, will be able to manage these challenges by setting up routines that secure speed, flexibility, trust and transparency.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen Scania's presence in the startup ecosystem by engaging startups in strategically important areas for our industrial as well as commercial operations.
• Develop Scania's capability to integrate and co-develop new solutions together with startups.
• Coordinate activities between Combient foundry, the steering group of the Accelerate Swedish Partnership program, as well as internal stakeholders like project managers, purchasing and communication.
• Coach external startups and help them identify relevant stakeholders internally based on their offer.
• Coach internal innovation projects with business development.
• Drive external communication to create awareness and engagement around Scania's objectives for startup collaborations.

Your profile

Your passion for entrepreneurship gives you a good ability to recognise good prerequisites for collaboration between small and big companies.

You have a strong curiosity for new technology and are used to evaluate innovative concepts. You have experience from working with business development in technology-driven industries and know what it takes to integrate new solutions. Experience from working with startup investments, incubators or in an actual startup yourself is a plus.

As a person, you have a strong record of building relationships and you comfortably navigate in unknown environments. You have good communication skills and are known by your colleagues for someone who is good at giving feedback. You like to take the initiative and are used to plan, drive and deliver independently within your area of responsibility. You talk both Swedish and English fluently.
