All teaching is done in English and we follow the English National Curriculum. Our classes have a maximum of 20 students and each class typically has a class teacher and a class assistant.

The Tanto International School is seeking to employ a music teacher for a role within its Primary Education department fro August 2020.
We are looking for a flexible and positive co-worker who enjoys teaching and supporting children. A person who is warm and caring and has the ability to inspire children and make them feel enthusiastic about coming to school. The candidate should be a native English speaker and have experience of working with children and communicating with guardians in a school setting or similar.
The candidate must be able to start the position in no later than Week Beginning 10th August 2020 and have a valid work permit for Sweden as well as a recent police clearance form. Candidates should e-mail their application for the position alongside a CV and a personal letter both written in English.
Job description:
The role is for 20% ( 1 day a week or two half days) requires the teacher to be highly skilled and experienced in guitar and have the capability to teach Ukulele to a class for part of the curriculum during the year.
Curriculum:
We aim for all children to develop (over their time at school):
• A rapidly widening repertoire which they use to create original, imaginative, fluent and distinctive composing and performance work.
• A musical understanding underpinned by high levels of aural perception, internalization and knowledge of music, including high or rapidly developing levels of technical expertise.
• Good awareness and appreciation of different musical traditions and genres.
• An good understanding of how musical provenance - the historical, social and cultural origins of music - contributes to the diversity of musical styles.
• The ability to give precise written and verbal explanations, using musical terminology effectively, accurately and appropriately.
• A passion for and commitment to a diverse range of musical activities.
Breadth of Study:
LOWER SCHOOL (1-3)
• Use their voices expressively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes.
• Play tuned and untuned instruments musically.
• Listen with concentration and understanding to a range of high-quality live and recorded music.
• Make and combine sounds using the inter-related dimensions of music.
UPPER SCHOOL (4-7)
• Play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts, using voice and playing instruments with increasing accuracy, control and expression.
• Improvise and compose music using the inter-related dimensions of music separately and in combination.
• Listen with attention to detail and recall sounds with increasing aural memory.
• Use and understand the basics of the stave and other musical notations.
• Appreciate and understand a wide range of high-quality live and recorded music from different traditions and from great musicians and composers.
• Develop an understanding of the history of music.
The curriculum is broken down into 4 areas:
Perform
This concept involves understanding that music is created to be performed and the school uses Ukulele as the instrument to learn for each child (approx. 50% of the curriculum time)
Compose
This concept involves appreciating that music is created through a process which has a number of techniques (approx. 20%)
Transcribe
This concept involves understanding that compositions need to be understood by others and that there are techniques and a language for communicating them (approx 15%)
Describe music
This concept involves appreciating the features and effectiveness of musical elements (approx 15%)
