hela Sverige Adecco Life Science is now recruiting a Senior Scientist-Molecular Biologist/Transgenic specialist to AstraZeneca's R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Do you have a molecular biology background and experience in executing strategies for genome modification for animal and cell models? The Arena
The transgenic capability is a global core team. Within the transgenic capability, there are 4 core scientific disciplines: Transgenic Models, Genome Wide Screening, Precise Genome Editing and Phenotyping and Physiology. The disciplines aim to ensure the capability is at the scientific forefront and performs world leading science and innovation. We are seeking a highly motivated senior scientist to support the Transgenic Models and Precise Genome Editing disciplines. This position is based at the AstraZeneca R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
We are seeking a scientific and technical specialist in the mouse transgenic field. As a successful candidate you are experimentally focused, with strong troubleshooting skills, adept at putting ideas into practice and providing support to our mouse model generation pipeline.
The main tasks will be the generation and analysis of transgenic animal and cell models, aligned with broad AstraZeneca R&D needs. You will have experience in transgenic models and, from a lab-based perspective, make significant contributions to the practical delivery of project goals.
Skills
• Experience in executing strategies for genome modification for animal and cell models, a strong molecular biology background is essential together with an in-depth understanding and experience of cutting edge methodologies employed to modify mammalian genomes.
• Excellence and hands-on experience in a wide range of cell and molecular biology methods including TaqMan and genotyping.
• Adept at analysis of transgenic models, particularly in detection and quantitation of gene expression
• Strong in cross-functional working and communication
Minimum Requirements
We seek a Masters or Ph.D. level scientist with proven experience in molecular biology and in the generation and characterization of transgenic mouse models.
Preferred experience and key factors
We seek a scientist with the ability to independently lead and drive science and engage, initiate and develop collaborations - both cross functional and with external partners. The candidate is socially gifted and interacts with scientists globally to ensure most critical activities are supported with appropriate studies. The role also includes collaboration with scientists from various functions and to bring knowledge to develop and (co-)drive projects.
The Transgenic capability has internal expertise in nuclease technologies (including CRISPR/Cas9, TALEN etc.) and drives the field of future in vivo application o these tools. The discipline leads several projects to develop deep and groundbreaking knowledge in this area and experience related to these activities would be a distinct advantage. The candidate should also display deep scientific understanding, comprehend limitations and possibilities with various kinds of animal experimentation.
