The R&D team is responsible for driving the product offerings from concept to completion and through sustainment. We are in the beginning of the process of creating a hardware center of excellence in Malmö. This position will be a key part of that new, world-class team.
The Opportunity
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading all technical aspects of the activities necessary to take a design from concept to production and sustainment. This will include creating concepts, mechanical drawings, as well as working with ODM suppliers to negotiate form and fit. It will also include validating first articles, performing environmental testing, and providing feedback directly to suppliers or customers.
In addition to the above your area of responsibility will include but not be limited to:
• Design of and creating mechanical drawings for
• Injection molded plastic, die cast aluminum and sheet metal parts
• Cable and final product assemblies.
• Fits, tolerances and stack-ups of electromechanical assemblies
• Coordination and interface with procurement personnel and vendors
• Verification of parts to specifications / FA inspections.
• Performance testing in product design phase: includes IP testing, vibration, mechanical shock, drop/impact and thermal management
• Establishing electronic foot-prints and keep-outs for PCBAs
• BOM creation and verification
We also expect you to keep abreast of the latest developments in engineering and applies the latest principles to product designs.
The successful candidate
To perform the job successfully we believe you have previously worked with testing and validating mechanical designs as well as design for molded or cast parts and 3D CAD (SolidWorks experience preferred). You demonstrate experience writing technical documents such as validation plans, design specifications and product documentation.
In addition to the above you have experience with:
• DFM/DFMA tools and software
• Touchscreen and display technology and implementation
Your formal background is probably Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering paired with at least 4-9 years of relevant work experience.
