In order to continue developing the combustor systems, we have to start to look at new challenges and new ways to get and use information.
The challenge
One field that we want to be investigated is the flame detection system, if there is a possibility to get further useful information from the flame that can be used to run and control our turbines. The burners and the flame is a central part of a gas turbine and they are utterly important to minimize the combustion dynamics and emission levels, as well as maximizing the fuel flexibility.
In the development process we use artificial intelligence models, image processing, analyzing history data, atmospheric and high pressure combustion tests, and gas turbine engine tests.
The goal of this project is to study different concepts of flame detection incorporating flame establishment and shape. The work will consist of concept generation, evaluation, analyze historical data, concept model and testing.
The proposed work is to be performed within 20 weeks and includes layout concepts, models and testing. Previous experience with mathematic programs, programing skills, image processing, statistics and artificial intelligence are an advantage.
