What you will do
At the Propulsion Software Factory we run a Continuous Integration & Delivery environment for about 500 software developers within the Volvo group. The Software developed and deployed through the Factory represents the technical areas of Electromobility and Conventional Powertrain.
Today the Calibration of a engine is a very complex and time consuming activity which is done in many parts manually by engineers. With the introduction of virtualization with virtual testing, virtual representation of hardware, and automation we want to investigate if there are opportunities to automate parts of this process with those methods and tools combined.

Description of thesis work:
The thesis should investigate the possibility to introduce a smart algorithm that can analyze the simulation results, and compare it towards target values and start a new simulation loop for optimizing towards the target.
Expected results:
A investigation into algorithms that can optimize calibration performance. Proof of concept of this algorithm should developed in our automation environment.
A discussion of the benefits and risks of this method and possible industrializations opportunities.
