The section Powertrain NVH & Performance and Drivability is part of the Driving Dynamics and NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) competence centre within Product Development and Quality at Volvo Car Group. The Centre has the responsibility to ensure that the attributes Driving Dynamics and Noise and Vibration are supported in the vehicle programmes, in terms of both customer and legal requirements and their attribute balance. Within the PT NVH & P&D section we have the responsibility for engine and driveline and their integration in the vehicle, in car and engine programmes with regard to our attributes. The team works integrated in all project phases, from AE to vehicle/engine production start, and field and quality issues, contributing with analysis and guidelines to improve the attributes in our cars.
Within the group Powertrain NVH CAE and Performance & Drivability we have the responsibility for both Vehicle, Body and Flow acoustic NVH CAE from a complete vehicle perspective in car programmes and Advanced Engineering. We are also responsible for the attribute vehicle longitudinal performance and driveability. The group consists of 14 people, of which 4 are attribute leaders responsible for performance and drivability. The team works integrated in all project phases, contributing with analysis, targets, strategies and guidelines to improve the NV and P&D attributes in our cars.
As a Manager of Powertrain NVH CAE and Performance & Drivability you will lead and develop the team, to enable maximum staff utilization, securing prerequisites and follow up including reporting results; mentor and coach the team to deliver in time to the right cost and quality. Other important tasks are to recruit new team members and secure competence development of all team members, and implement methods and processes to increase quality and efficiency within P&D and NVH Centre to secure best practice and standardization of work.
Main responsibilities
Leading and developing the team, including the employees located at VCC sites abroad, to enable maximum staff utilization, securing prerequisites and follow up including reporting results.
Recruitment of new team members and securing competence development for all team members
Responsible for the groups attribute and competence strategy
Plan and manage the activities within the line organization such as operational and method development
Ensuring implementation of methods and processes to increase quality and efficiency within P&D and NVH Centre and secure best practice and standardization
Ensure proper project staffing in vehicle, unit and advanced engineering projects including consultant on-site and bought capacity
Recognize and reward good performance of employees
Leading and follow up of the development work in all phases, mentoring and coaching the team to deliver in time to the right cost and quality
Being an active member of the PT NVH and P&D Management team
Required qualifications
M.Sc.or Ph.D education in Mechanical/Vehicle Engineering or Engineering Physics or similar.
Fluent in English, written and spoken
Knowledge in structural dynamics, engineering and/or flow acoustics
Solid experience in vehicle development
Strong in communication, mentoring and interpersonal skills
Highly driven and results-focused
Excellent ability to build contacts, both internally and externally Volvo Cars and motivate / inspire
Proven ability to drive change
Business acumen
Interested in the combination of technology, leadership & business
Demonstrated leadership experience
Minimum seven years professional experience
Personal qualities
