The Position
Avalanche Studios Group and its creative division Expansive Worlds are looking for a passionate and highly motivated Lead Designer for our successful title theHunter: Call of the Wild, based out of our new studio in Malmö.

Initially released in 2017, Call of the Wild has been supported with many successful DLC and content releases. Now we want to shift gears a little and focus on improving the overall experience of the game (stability, performance, UX), while continuing to provide fresh and new content to our loyal players.

As the Lead Designer, you will safeguard the vision established by the Game Director, and translate it into valid designs and ways to implement these. Your role will be to make decisions about systems, content, game balance, and how to build a sustainable and solid foundation for a game experience over years.

On a high level you will lead the creative development and practical implementation of designs and work closely with the production team and other developers.

On a day to day basis you will design and implement features and content in the Apex engine and also take an active role in product reviews to ensure an appropriate quality level.

As you will work on a wide range of different game aspects we see the perfect candidate having a couple of years practical experience from different areas of game development as well as experience from being a lead.

This is a rare opportunity for the candidate who wants to play an instrumental and leading role in a small but senior team, making high quality games. If you are a person who likes being challenged and stimulated in an ambitious and talented environment this position will suit you perfectly!

Qualifications

• Leadership skills and experience in equivalent roles leading small to medium design teams
• Good production knowledge to be able to assist Producer with high level plans as well as story and task breakdowns and estimates
• Seniority within game design and/or level design with track record of at least 2 released titles
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (English)
• Data management and editing with Excel or similar

To thrive in the Avalanche Game Design department, you need to be willing and have the ability to learn new tools and workflows. You have a positive attitude and the ability to motivate others. We are looking for someone who is articulate, has strong conceptual skills and the ability to communicate ideas visually and verbally. You need to have a passion for games and an ability to articulate that passion clearly and analytically.
