Placement at the University Animal Hospital Diagnostic Imaging Clinic located in Uppsala, Sweden
The University animal hospital (UDS) at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) is one of Sweden's largest animal hospitals. UDS is a resource for research and the clinical training of veterinary students and veterinary nurses at the Faculty of Veterinary Science, SLU.

UDS has approximately 200 employees that provide high quality animal care to cats, dogs, exotic pets, horses and has an ambulatory service for farm animals.

The Diagnostic Imaging Clinic at UDS offers standard small and large animal track ECVDI residency programs. In 2014 UDS moved into a new facility that is one of Europe's most modern animal hospitals. The Diagnostic Imaging Clinic conducts small and large animal diagnostic imaging for UDS patients, has a Diagnostic imaging service for external small and large animal patients and operates a teleradiology service for images from external clinics in Sweden. The clinic is equipped with small and large animal radiography, small animal fluoroscopy, small and large animal ultrasound, small and large animal 64-slice CT, 1.5 T small animal MRI, 0.27 T equine standing MRI, small and large animal nuclear medicine including a hotlab. The clinic has many international contacts and we often have foreign vets visiting or working with us.

The clinic currently has a staff of 12 persons divided into radiologists and technical staff. Our nurses/technicians are specialized and work only with diagnostic imaging.

The position:
The resident will work in the University Animal Hospital Diagnostic Imaging Clinic and progress through a training program in large animal radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and scintigraphy. The program will also include a specified number of small animal radiology and ultrasound. The resident will be expected to actively participate in the supervision and teaching of undergraduate veterinary students and general activities in the clinic including internal training of University Animal Hospital staff, and information and education activities for referring veterinarians and animal owners.

Required qualifications

• The applicant must have a veterinary degree and a permission to work in Sweden.
• A minimum of one year in a recognized general clinical training program (internship) or two years of satisfactory veterinary practice equivalent.
• Knowledge and clinical experience of at least one year in veterinary diagnostic imaging focused on radiology and ultrasound of large animals at a diagnostic imaging department or unit is required
• The applicant must have a strong ambition to become a specialist in veterinary diagnostic imaging and is expected to complete the requirements and take the examinations for the European Diploma in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging.
• Fluent in spoken and written English and basic knowledge in Swedish.

Assessment criteria

• Previous experience working with, teaching or conducting research in veterinary diagnostic imaging would be considered an advantage.
• Previous experience working at SLU would be considered an advantage.
• The selection will be based upon the written application and an interview where qualifications, collaboration and communication skills together with other personal qualities are important.
• Basic experience in more advanced techniques like CT and MR are considered an advantage.



Form of employment:
Time limited specialization position, maximum 4 years.

100 %

Working hours: The working time is currently placed on weekdays daytime.
