Royal Institute of Art announces a Postdoctoral position in Fine Art
Located in the middle of Stockholm, the Royal Institute of Art (KKH) is Sweden's largest and oldest centre for education in the fine arts. Currently, the university is undergoing a strong development phase in order to build the future's next form of art education. In collaboration with Linköping University, we are now seeking a postdoctoral researcher in fine art.

Workplace description:
The Royal Institute of Art offers undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate level courses in fine art, as well as postgraduate courses in architecture. It is an interdisciplinary environment that promotes the exertion of and encounter between different artistic expressions through experimentation and risk-taking.
The university offers a wide range of courses, projects and exhibitions, and gives students the opportunity to develop their artistic practices in studios and workshops, as necessary. The environment is an international one, and is in step with the current developments in contemporary art. Here, the future of art finds its newest form under the guidance of a multi-talented faculty.

Description of the employment:
The postdoctoral position is located within the framework of the research programme, The Seed Box: A Mistra-Formas Environmental Humanities Collaboratory (www.theseedbox.se). Concerning the employment at the Royal Institute of Art (KKH), the focus will be put on how artistic practices and research methodologies can contribute to environmental humanities to strengthen The Seed Box's transdisciplinary development, as well as the research milieu and sustainability work at KKH. From an artistic and environmentally humanities-oriented perspective, the postdoctoral researcher is invited to move across the art school's different areas to explore what materials and methods can be utilised within this interdisciplinary field.

The postdoctoral researcher will:
• Pursue research within an individually formulated artistic research project that can be connected to the current developments around sustainability at KKH.
• Develop transdisciplinary research methodologies between fine art and environmental humanities, in a given dialogue with The Seed Box network.
• Offer a regular seminar series at KKH to share and discuss phases of the research process together with students and colleagues (maximum 20% of the employment).
• Contribute and meet the conditions and criteria that The Seed Box programme states.
In addition to being present at KKH, the postdoctoral researcher is expected to spend a month at The Seed Box, Linköping University. The Seed Box will among other things, offer a mentor training for all the postdoctoral researchers associated with the programme.

The employment
The employment period will start in September 2020 and run for full-time for 12 months, or the equivalent if part-time mode (until 1 February 2022 latest). The placement is at the Royal Institute of Art where the postdoctoral researcher is expected to be active during the project period.
KKH will provide work- and meeting spaces, computer and telephone, as well as access to the technical workshops and the allocation to an organisational area. The recruitment will be concluded on condition that the formal collaboration agreement is finalised between both parties.
