Since 1873, Atlas Copco has developed innovative products and solutions for the miningand tunneling industries. Right now, the company has ambitious plans for a global businessexpansion within underground mining. For that Atlas Copco needs to expand their developmentorganization with more than 50 engineers and managers. If you want to develop the company's future of world-class products, using the latest of engineeringmethods and processes, then you are the person Atlas Copco are looking for. Atlas Copco Underground Rock Excavation (URE) has a large program of machines used in tunnelling and underground mining operation, for example Drill Rigs, Bolting Rigs, Scaling Rigs, Loaders and Mine Trucks. The machines are used all around the world, normally in very harsh environments with high demands on safety, reliability and productivity. They are available in various technology levels, from simple to fully automated with diesel and/or electric drive trains.
Job Description
As a hydraulic engineer you will be involved in all phases of the design process of the machine, from new development, customer orders, product modification and maintenance to testing at the test mine facilities or in field tests. Your main responsibilities are the hydraulic, pneumatic and water systems of the machines. Examples of duties are:
• Designing new systems including dimensioning and technical calculations.
• Specifying new components and sub-systems.
• Contacts with sub-suppliers.
• Analyzing technical solutions, e.g. with respect to manufacturability, quality and serviceability.
• Participate in tests.
• Co-operate with other departments within the company, e.g. marketing, strategic purchasing, service as well as sales companies.
Qualifications
You have a Master of Science degree, preferably with specialization in hydraulics. Experience of mobile hydraulics design is an advantage. English is Atlas Copco's corporate language and is widely used, both in spoken and written form. Hence, they assume that your English skills are good.
Personality requirements
To enjoy the work, it is important to have the ability to combine theory and practice. Atlas Copco expect you to have good analytic skills. An enterprising and goal oriented personality are desired since the work is conducted with a lot of freedom and responsibility. The job requires a lot of collaboration both internally and externally so good interpersonal and communications skills are a prerequisite to do a good job.If you want to develop in the hydraulic field and work with exciting machines, this is the job for you!
Country and city description
The successful candidate should be based in Örebro, Sweden. Örebro is Sweden's seventh biggest city, with around 130,000 inhabitants. It is located in the center of Sweden, population-wise - 2 hours to the east coast (including Stockholm); 3 hours to the west coast. There is a good infrastructure and facilities, and virtually no traffic - so the quality of life is high. There is an established and growing international community. There are also schools that offer education in English, including the International Baccalaureate syllabus, plus a university. More information on the city can be found on www.orebro.se. Atlas Copco is the biggest private employer in Örebro, with currently around 1,700 employees in total.
