Job description
The hydraulic and power distribution systems has a key role in our articulated wheel loaders and dump trucks for underground mining and we are now facing a rapid change in terms of technology. Electrification and automation are two main drivers that emphasis the requirements on efficiency and controllability. We are now looking for a system-oriented engineer that is eager to develop our power distribution systems, mainly hydraulics, towards even better functionality, safety, energy and cost -efficiency. The different subsystems is becoming more and more integrated which create new possibilities for innovative thinking. The positon will be in the Hydraulic and Powertrain group at URE - Material Handling.
New technologies and the use of electrical motors as the main power source makes room for new concepts, control strategies and dimensioning criteria's. Analyzing different system concepts and architectures, control strategies and components in terms of e.g. performance, efficiency and drivability towards different driving cycles will be a key part of the work. Verifying of the performance of the final product is also part of the work. The right candidate will have great opportunities to contribute to the coming generation of loaders and haulers.
Your work will, to a majority, be on a project basis and you will be the R&D's representative regarding hydraulic systems in different product and basic development projects. You achieve the goals and targets via continuous dialogue with colleagues, stakeholders and sub-suppliers. System design within power electronics and electrical motors combined with a will to learn can be an alternative background. A good knowledge of power distribution component's characteristics and how to combine, dimension and control them in order to find the best compromise in terms of performance, efficiency, controllability etc. Experience from mobile equipment and functional development are meritorious. Good knowledge of system simulation tools, e.g. Matlab Simulink, and a general understanding of control algorithms is a great advantage.
Education Requirements
You should have a documented academic background within relevant area or other highly qualified engineering background.
