Group BF72851, "DC Braking & Suspension Control systems" is a group within "Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics Engineering" that is responsible for the development of brake and air suspension control systems for all trucks brands within Volvo Group Trucks Technology. The group is part of a global network and work in close cooperation with other groups on other sites.

The brake system in a heavy truck is a pneumatic system. The brake system is bought from a system supplier on specification. We are now looking for a highly motivated engineer to strengthen our team in the brake system area.

Position description:
You will be responsible for several brake system related functions and join our multinational team of research and development engineers. The Function Owner has global responsibility for commonality and reusability of the functionality between products, brands, and markets.

Depending on your profile, your work will include some, most or all of the following parts:
• Act as function responsible for one or more functions related to braking, traction or vehicle stability
• Develop and manage the End-to-End Function Requirements Specification for all variants, use-cases and applicable regulations. All phases of the function life-cycle should be considered.
• Participate in activities to define the verification and validation needs of the End-to-End Function.
• Responsible for Hazard Analysis and Functional Safety Concept of the End-to-End Function according to ISO26262
• Organize/participate in technical discussions with supplier.
• Test, tune and document each function parameters, for each variants
• Develop, evaluate and review brake, traction and stability control function concepts in research and / or product development projects
• Perform experimental tests in vehicles
• Carrying out tests in both virtual and real environments
• Trouble shooting and support to the aftersales and production plants

Qualifications:
• You have a M.Sc. in Mechatronic, Control engineering, Electronics or similar.
• Good knowledge in Physics, Mechatronic, Mechanical engineering, Control engineering, Vehicle dynamics, System modelling, Functional requirements and Electronics
• Good understanding of system development of embedded real time systems
• Good understanding of model based development
• Experience of functional development according to ISO26262
• Analytical
• Ability to analyze and solve complex problems.
• Communication and presenting skills both in text and verbally
• Sense of responsibility
• Business and customer oriented

In addition, you are familiar with tools such as Simulink, Matlab, CANalyzer as well as rapid prototyping and systems development principles. Since we often face mechanical challenges, it would be beneficial that you like mechanical problem solving. Knowledge in Volvo Tools and C-driving license are advantages.

As a person you are driven, innovative and you have a passion for problem solving. You are open-minded and outgoing. You enjoy team work but at the same time you are able to work independently and drive development on your own. You most likely have a genuine interest in the automotive industry.
