The Department of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology is part of the Biocentrum at campus Ultuna. The department's researchers have a broad competence in plant and tree pathology and in microbial ecology. At the Department, we undertake fundamental and applied research focused on interactions involving plants, pathogenic, symbiotic and saprotrophic fungi and other microorganisms and their roles in natural and managed systems. The department has a modern and well-equipped molecular and biochemical laboratory

Qualifications:
The successful candidate should hold a PhD in Forest Pathology or similar subject. The successful candidate must have documented previous experience from work with biology and genetics of rust fungi in forest trees. Experience with molecular biology techniques are a requirement and previous experiences with metabarcoding work or mycological cultivation techniques are merits. The candidate should be fluent in spoken and written English and have good communication skills.
The candidate's background in forest pathology and the candidate's personal characteristics will be central to the assessment and selection of the successful candidate. We are looking for a person with a strong sense of responsibility, strong commitment, initiative, and self-motivation.
