RESPONSIBILITY
This position holds the responsibility between design, development, and production and requires excellent footwear technical skills as well as project management skills.
The Footwear Technician is responsible that our products meet the quality requirement and provide the best possible durability and comfort to our customers.
The Footwear Technician works hand in hand with the development team, quality and production teams and factories and own the product technical data.
The Footwear Technician needs to constantly review our products to keep a high-quality level on all our footwear. The Footwear Technician reviews fit & comfort, assembly, and construction and maintain up to date specs in partnership with the product developers.
This requires daily contact with factories and regular visits
JOB ASSIGNMENT
Technical Development
• Responsibility and ownership of the product technical development (fit, construction, comfort and performance).
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Designers, Developers, Quality Control, Operations and suppliers in order to ensure product success.
• Recommends design enhancements, construction and material options geared at elevating our brands and hitting financial requirements.
• Monitors and reviews all prototypes and market samples to insure faithful execution to spec as well as meets quality, execution, and construction standards. Provides feedback and information to factories to make necessary changes clear and organized. Create and update specs in partnership with developers.
• Ensure Product Specs have the correct level of technical information
• Ensure Product Technical information is shared across internal systems
• Validate commercial samples for industrialization
• Owns the sign off process to production (sealing samples)
Quality
• Perform risk assessment per styles and inform Developers of changes needed at the development stage
• Validate materials for production
• Current working knowledge of materials market and manufacturing landscape. Attends trade shows and interacts with material suppliers.
• Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future products
• Monitor customer feedback together with customer service and drive actions to improve the customer product experience
• Review quality claims and suggests improvement plans to management
• Drive changes in production in line with approved quality improvements projects
Product integrity
• Aims to instill quality in the product from material selection thru final production.
• Reviews all components with an eye for quality and durability.
• Ensures that all components and constructions used are compliant for performance and restricted substances prior to production.
• Tests questionable materials and treatments in the development cycle to prevent a lapse in product flow in production.
• Drive footwear sustainability projects implementation for technical activities
Analyze/reports
• Analyze claims and bring up suggestions to offer best in class products
• Understand the customer
Training and mentoring of junior staff.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
5 years' experience in the footwear industry
Attention to detail
Experience with shoe design and construction is a must
Experience with Footwear materials and suppliers
Pattern making is a plus
Excellent English communication skills. Portuguese is a plus
This position is located in our Headquarter in Gothenburg, Sweden - applications in english
