As one of our team members will change position within AAK we have an opening as Food Technologist in Business Area Europe/ Europe Customer Innovation Center Dairy/ Dairy Pilot Plant and Support in Karlshamn. Customer Innovation Center Dairy is working closely together with our customers to co-develop value added vegetable oil solutions. Our ambition is to do this via superior customer support. The Dairy Pilot Plant & Support team is responsible for three labs. In the Dairy application lab, we produce whipping cream, ice cream, yoghurt, cheese, spreads, margarines etc in pilot scale. We do development work for our customers to find the best solutions for their needs. The team also does application work for the Technology and Product Development Group who is working with more long term development projects. Another responsibility is our physical chemistry laboratory where we study fundamental properties such as crystal forms, rheological properties, melting and crystallization behavior of oils and fats and also consumer products. The third lab, for which the team is responsible, is our sensory lab where we in a scientific way evaluate different attributes in end products by using a trained panel. Here we can evaluate more or less all oil and fat containing products.
About the position
You will be responsible for the sensory studies on a lot of different products containing our oil and fat solutions. Supporting our Customer Innovation Managers with studies in different customer projects your work involves planning the sensory studies, making experimental design, evaluation of results, training and maintaining the quality of our different taste panels and all the practical work around the taste sessions. Working with quantitative descriptive analysis which is a statistical approach to sensory science you will work on evaluating chocolate, ice creams, whipping creams, margarine and butter blends, cookies, snacks, cheese etc. Also, you will be responsible for giving seminars about sensory science in our AAK Academy and for customers visiting the Karlshamn site. Further, you will be responsible for performing studies on fat and fat containing products in our physical chemistry lab with instruments such as X-Ray, rheological studies, DSC, texture analysis, optical microscope etc. You will also support our Dairy application lab during production and evaluation of end products.
Laboratory experience and high degree of structure
The ideal candidate has a University Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or science and has a number of years experience from similar position or related areas, either from Laboratory or Product Development functions. You are a fast learner and have a structured and methodic approach to performing highly analytical work. You know your way around a laboratory and you have good knowledge in statistics. As a person you are a team player and you are motivated and open to growth and challenges. Being detail-oriented, you are focused on end-results and always strive to deliver service and create the most profitable solutions.
