Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to Akzo Nobel Decorative Coatings Nordic finance function. In the role you will work closely with the business and report to the Finance Manager Nordics. The position is placed in Malmö. Our site in Malmö is one of our fast growing key sites in Europe where you will enter a challenging role in a full change environment with great exposure and visibility in this international company. You need hands-on experience and good understanding of accounting principles and firm reporting deadlines as well as high ability to understand the overall business context. Your main tasks and responsibilities will be as follows:

• The entire month end accounting close process for Local companies
• Working with our outsourced providers to ensure that data is processed on a monthly basis.
• Ensuring accurate accruals, prepayments and appropriate analysis of all key profit and loss and balance sheet areas.
• Responsible for the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including the intercompany reconciliation.
• Prepare & deliver adjustments to local GAAP monthly. Review and approve the adjustments (Local Statutory Reporting)
• Review and approve manual journal entries
• Check statutory accounts & make bridge between IFRS and local GAAP. Review and approve of above bridge (Local Statutory Reporting)
• Preparation of monthly FEM forms (Tax Accounting & Reporting)
• Ensuring timely and accurate recording of all items to allow appropriate data capture to enable reporting for VAT, ECSL and intrastat compliance.
• Preparing the VAT return data on a monthly / quarterly basis and work with external providers to file the VAT returns.
• Perform tax planning strategy in LE with GEHQ (Direct Tax)
• Prepare direct tax projections and return, review and approve with GEHQ (Direct Tax)
• Providing further analysis and documentation for audit and other purposes, as required.
• Managing audits where applicable and work with foreign accounting and other professionals.
• Assisting in developing systems and processes where necessary.
• Implement AkzoNobel policies and ensure they are followed
• Initiate process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement of Finance Services
• Monitor processes in SAP
• Prepare closing instructions and schedules (Perform Close Activities)
• Coordinate reporting internal and external
• Monitor indirect tax law and provide updates (Indirect Taxes)
• Budget and forecast for Support Functions
• Act as contact person for the BPO
• Support standardization of SOP for the service provider and the retained organization

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience working with similar tasks, preferably in an international environment, or experience from an audit firm. You have a relevant education in finance and you should have good knowledge and experience of IFRS and GAAP as well as excellent IT skills. Your communication skills in English are very good, both in speech and writing. It is an advantage if you have experience of working with accounting in Danish companies.

As a person you are structured and thorough in your approach. You have a good understanding of the financial processes, are solution oriented and like to work proactively towards continuous improvement. To be successful in your role, we assume you have a strong drive and ability to work both overall and in detail. You understand the importance of good communication, are communicative in your dialogue and have the ability to reach people in your surroundings. The environment in which you will be working is changeable and fast paced, which means you should be pragmatic and have a dynamic mind-set.
