IGBP is searching for a Finance Coordinator
About IGBP:
IGBP (International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme) was launched in 1987 to coordinate international research on global-scale and regional-scale interactions between Earth's biological, chemical and physical processes and their interactions with human systems. IGBP views the Earth system as the Earth's natural, physical, chemical, biological cycles, processes and includes social and economic dimensions.
About Kungliga Vetenskapsakademien (KVA):
IGBP is hosted by KVA/Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, which is the legal entity that employs IGBP staff.
Job Description:
• Prepare the budget for IGBP's Scientific Committee meeting (financial statement, statement of Income and Expenditures, short financial statements for the previous year and budgets for the current year)
• Prepare Financial Reports to funders after IGBP organized conferences/meetings where we work with co-funders
• Responsible for contracts of office rental equipment, computers, travel insurance etc.
• You will act as the main contact between IGBP and the KVA regarding all financial issues
• Update accounting list, close projects, check account balances, follow up of IGBP budget in SEK and EURO
• Prepare and update expenditures and incomes for our grants
• Prepare invoices and handle travel claims
• Prepare and approve bank transfers to be completed by the KVA
• Code and approve digital invoices
• Approve small purchases and advise the Executive Director concerning large purchases
• Assist the administration team with general tasks
Required Skills:
• Experience in accounting, book keeping, budgeting and grant reporting
• At least 3-5 years working experience in finance/economy
• Experience in administration and general office tasks
• Fluent in English (written and oral) and a good level of Swedish
• Good working experience of Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
In addition to the financial skills, the successful candidate should be self motivated, enjoys challenges, good at problem solving, be a team player and values flexibility.
For your information:
• You will be given in-house training with regard to your tasks
• You will work with 9 other IGBP staff members who represent 6 different countries, various religious and social backgrounds
• You will be working in an international setting - we outreach to people worldwide
• The working language at IGBP is English. Most of us are native English speakers
The position as finance coordinator is part time (60%) and the period of employment from September 2014 through December 2015.
