To be able to sustainably develop hygiene and health products, we need your support. We are currently looking for a Laboratory Equipment Engineer to join us on our journey!
The Laboratory Equipment Engineer is responsible for the design of laboratory equipment and verify it is compliant with standards, efficient, effective and meet consumer and business needs. In this role you will be the one taking the equipment to the next level in terms of automatization and digitalization. Together with your two colleagues you are also responsible for maintenance of existing laboratory equipment locally in Gothenburg as well as globally.
This position is based in Gothenburg and you will report to the Laboratory Services Manager.
Main Tasks
Design new and existing laboratory equipment to meet consumer and business needs by considering/incorporating automatization and digitalization techniques
Purchase and install equipment for laboratories globally and be first or second line support for laboratory equipment
Educate people at these sites in equipment maintenance
Lead and drive enabling projects
Being the Essity contact person to consultancy firms for laboratory equipment.
Identify new suppliers; negotiate favorable terms and conditions for equipment purchases
Responsible for troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of current laboratory equipment
Supporting projects and method development with cost estimations and timetable
Establish technical requirement specifications for laboratory equipment based on internal customer needs
Maintain a very good knowledge of equipment, their functions, safety laws and regulations and relevant technologies as well as laboratory methods. Be updated on relevant areas within automation/digitalization/mechanics and machine safety directive (CE)
Secure function and accuracy of laboratory equipment in accordance with methodological, safety and quality demands, including securing uniform assembly of equipment.
Incorporate user friendliness and ergonomic aspects into equipment design and secure CE-labelling as appropriate
Key Competencies
University degree within automation and/or electrical engineering
1-2 years of work experience from similar roles
Experience from equipment purchasing is preferred
Dexterous, have the ability to perform hands-on, practical work
Creative, able to understand customer needs and transfer into solutions
Technical skills - ability to adjust and configure equipment, perform maintenance on machines
Preferably programming skills
Service minded and good ability to collaborate
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently and follow instructions
Fluent in English, both verbally and written
