Developer of Virtual Test Environment for Engine Control

The section for Engine Control is a part of Complete Powertrain Control. We control and calibrate all VCC-developed engines for maximum engine performance and lowest fuel consumption and emissions.

The group Air Charge Systems is responsible for controlling and calibrating the turbo, supercharger, throttle and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems. In addition, we develop our own soft-ware for the control. We work both on today's engines and future concepts. Our vision is to provide fast and accurate delivery of state-of-the-art air charge calibration and software. We use an efficient and well-documented working process to incorporate virtual methods.

We now look to strengthen the group Air Charge Systems with a Developer of Virtual Test Environment for Engine Control. You will work together with a team of experienced and highly qualified colleagues with the aim to develop state-of-the-art control functions that are robust. Our target is to ensure maximum engine performance and lowest fuel consumption and emissions. We work both on today's engines and future concepts.

Main responsibilities

• Develop virtual environments for the air charge control software in combination with engine and actuator models

• Perform air charge control robustness tests

• Function development of air charge control for next generation Volvo Environmental Architecture (VEA) engines

• Participate in teams together with colleagues from engine development and other areas

• Plan and execute control tests in engine rigs and vehicle

Required qualifications

• MSc in engineering within Physics or Electronics

• Several years of experience of control or engine development

• Driver's license B

• PhD in engineering is meritorious

• Knowledge in control theory and physical modelling is meritorious

• Skills in Matlab, Simulink and INCA will be an asset
