The Analytics division is divided into several teams with their unique responsibilities. However, there is of course one thing in common for all of them - they consist of highly driven people with a combination of analytical skills and a great sense of humour. Now we are looking to grow our Data Science team. Data Science is the team responsible for the machine learning models that, in real-time at the time of purchase, are used to assess people's ability and/or willingness to pay.
So, what would you do?
In our Data Science team you will be involved in the whole process of model development. This includes everything from root cause analysis, data-mining and feature engineering to training, validating and implementing machine learning models, computing performance statistics and conducting A/B-tests. You will work closely with several engineering teams and business analysts to find new smart ways of consolidating data and making use of it in order to make better models and ultimately better predictions.
We are looking for people with a masters degree in a quantitative field such as Physics/Maths/Statistics or Computer Science with a focus on machine learning/statistics. You have combined this with a business oriented education and few years of work experience. You have experience in time series modelling, supervised machine learning or survival modelling and are comfortable with some combination of programming languages, databases and tools such as Java, Python, R, Javascript, git, JIRA, scikit-learn, d3, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, MongoDB or Neo4j and you don't hesitate to learn new tools and languages. As a person you are curious and driven and have an ease for learning new things.
Analytics is a crucial part of Klarna's product offering. Our portfolio is continuously growing in size and complexity as we introduce new markets, payment options and products. The Analytics division's main responsibilities are to handle and mitigate Klarna's different exposures to risk, primarily fraud and credit, minimizing data costs, maximizing approval rate and revenues and represent the risk perspective in cross functional projects. All of this is to make sure that Klarna really offers the smooothest payment experience. We are sometimes called the secret sauce of Klarna and the risk of feeling under-stimulated here is asymptotically zero.
