Our 700 employees are working together with our customers and the local community to provide the city with simple, reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
Your role
We are currently looking for a Data scientist who will work to build advanced analysis models and algorithms from large volumes of data to improve productivity and efficiency of the production and distribution. Your main tasks will be:
• Together with business and process experts, identify areas where data science and applied analysis would generate great value.
• Building models and algorithms applied on business problems, an example could include anomaly detection on live data streams from a wide variety of sensors, or predict when a specific fault is about to occur.
• Build data driven prototypes for various use cases within strategic focus areas in Stockholm Exergi.
• Because the team and the role Data scientist is new, you will also be working to develop new ways of working and be able to influence and build future tech solutions without detailed work instructions.
As our Data scientist you will work in a newly established team working with Data driven production and distribution, which aims at supporting business with data driven decisions and working methods based on new technology and enhanced analytical skills. The main purpose is to innovate and improve the efficiency of Stockholm Exergi's production and distribution processes.
The team's first mission is to implement a system and work processes for anomaly detection in our production facilities. The anomaly detection system shall detect deviations in the production process with the aid of machine learning and advanced algorithms so that they can be remedied before they cause production disturbances. The team will then work further in other analytical areas and will be at the forefront of developing digital analysis tools and carrying out analysis in the energy sector. The team consist of the team manager, two Process Analysts, a Data Analyst and a Data Scientist.
We offer you
In the role as Data scientist, you will work with the latest technology in the energy sector and thus operate in an area that has access to large data streams continuously flowing from industrial processes where Data science has not yet been applied on a large scale - i.e. you will be at the forefront of the energy industry and be part of a new team that is considered critical to take Stockholm Exergi to the next level when it comes to practical data analysis.
As Data scientist your work will be operational as well as exploratory and you will get to apply your deep knowledge in data science at Stockholm Exergi's production and distribution facilities. You will be part of our small team that has a will to innovate and to be at the forefront within its area, that is why we work closely with start-ups, stay on top of the latest technology by carrying out pilot projects and do extensive market research. Furthermore, there are a small but growing network of data scientists within Stockholm Exergi with whom you can share ideas and solutions.
Your qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a fast learner, curious, passionate about data science, analytics as well as machine learning, and who is comfortable with working independently. You have a technical college degree (Master of Science or equivalent in engineering, data, mathematics, physics or the like) with a focus on statistics and applied mathematics or computational physics. You are comfortable using statistics such as regression analysis, hypothesis and significance testing within a business context. You have practical experience and knowledge about:
• Machine learning and at least one machine learning library, e.g. Torch, Caffe, TensorFlow or CNTK.
• Cloud based services (GCP, AWS, Azure or similar).
• To design, build and deploy data science solutions, e.g. NoSQL, Python or R.
Finally, you have good knowledge of English and/or Swedish in both spoken and written terms.
