The role Commodity Buyer Transportation is located within the Procurement Team within the Inbound Logistics organisation (IBL) and will report directly to the Manager Transportation Purchasing. The purchasing function in the Transportation organisation is to develop and maintain a world-class logistics supplier base. Ensuring the supply of services - to the right cost, quality and technology - is essential for the success of Volvo Cars. Ultimately, it's all about cooperating with people inside and outside the company to create a superior experience for the people who buy and drive a Volvo. We develop the global supply base and commodity strategies as well as maintain supplier relationships for new and existing suppliers. You will work in a global organisation and work in close daily cooperation with both local and international suppliers. The role is based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Main responsibilities
• Prepare and send out RFQs (Request for Quotation)
• Analyse quotations both cost wise and technically
• Negotiate and establish logistics agreements (transport by rail, truck and vessel, warehousing services etc.)
• Issue and maintain logistics contracts in line with Volvo Cars' general terms
• Administrative work e.g. transact and update price files, reporting progress and result, transact purchasing orders etc
• Drive resolution and establish action plans on supplier issues in running business
• Participate in cross functional teams with members from marketing, dealers, quality etc.
• Ensure supplier selections, establishment of agreements and issuing of orders
• Drive continuous improvements activities, both internally and with suppliers
• Work towards individual targets
• Frequent supplier contacts regarding day-to-day business
Required qualifications
• University degree and a minimum of 5 years work experience within Automotive and or Logistic networks.
• Experience from purchasing
• Knowledge of distribution methods is beneficial
• A proven track record of successful negotiation and implementation of logistics contracts with carriers
• Experience of supplier assessment
• Fluent in English
