hela Sverige MAX IV Laboratory, a part of Lund University, has operated successfully for more than 25 years and is currently building the new MAX IV synchrotron facility in Lund.
More than 900 scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world are coming to the MAX IV Laboratory every year to use the x-rays produced by our electron accelerators. They do research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry, and nanotechnology.
170 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory. The MAX IV facility, the largest and most ambitious Swedish investment in research infrastructure, will be the brightest source of x-rays worldwide and will replace the existing laboratory, which today consists of the storage rings MAX I, II and III. The new MAX IV facility will become operational in June 2016.
Publiceringsdatum2015-01-22Dina arbetsuppgifterWe are looking for a beamline scientist in spin and angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy for the MAX IV Laboratory. You will primarily work with general beamline operation and user support on beamline I4 and the solid state branch line of beamline I3. You will also be expected to take part in maintenance and development of the beamlines and the experimental stations. Development of your own research project and collaboration with the user community is highly encouraged.
Beamline I4 is dedicated to angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy and the solid state branchline of I3 is dedicated to spin and angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy. Beamline I4 is a spherical grating monochromator beamline sourced by a planar undulator on the MAX III storage ring with energy range 14 - 200eV.
Beamline I3 is a normal incidence monochromator beamline sourced by an elliptically polarized undulator on MAX III storage ring with energy range 5-50 eV. Beamline I3 uses a R4000 Scienta analyzer with a spin detector and beamline I4 a Specs 100 mm PHOIBOS analyzer. More details of the end stations can be found on the website of the respective beamlines at the MAX IV website,
https://www.maxlab.lu.se/beamlines/I3 https://www.maxlab.lu.se/beamlines/I4 .
The I3 and I4 beamlines will be shutdown in December 2015. After December 2015, you will take part in the MAX IV 1.5 GeV ring ARPES beamline project, which to some part will involve transferring existing I3 end station. You will also be expected to work with setting up and commissioning of the ARPES beamline at MAX IV. APRES beamline on the 1.5GeV ring of MAX IV is based on collimated PGM/NIM monochromator. It will be sourced by a elliptically polarized undulator. The energy range of the beamline will be 10-1000eV, with a resolving power of 100000 upto 100 eV.
Önskvärda kvalifikationer
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
• Ph.D. degree or equivalent in physics or a related field.
• Documented experience with ultrahigh vacuum techniques and instrumentation.
• Documented experience with spin and angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy.
• Experience of working at a synchrotron radiation laboratory and willingness for and documented experience of user support.
• Demonstrated ability to work both unsupervised and in a team.
• Data analysis/computer skills and mechanical/electronics skills are a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills and good command of English.
