Job description
Lund University announces a limited-duration (four years) position as associate senior lecturer in statistics.
The position is full time, with placement at the School of Economics and Management, Department of Statistics.
Terms of employment
The successful candidate must have proven competence and experience in the field of statistics.
The position involves both teaching (40%) and research (60%), and administrative tasks can also be included. Teaching can be at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. The salary range is between SEK 440,000 - 540,000 per year depending on qualifications. The salary will be renegotiated at a competitive level within the specialization if and when the candidate is promoted to senior lecturer.
Qualification requirements
Qualified to be employed as an Associate Senior Lecturer in statistics is a person who has been awarded as a PhD degree in statistics or mathematical statistics not more than seven years before the application deadline. The position includes teaching in English and therefore requires good command of the English language. Ability to develop and implement high quality research and good teaching skills are the basis for the assessment of the candidate.
The School of Economics and Management strives for a balance between research and teaching in all positions. Therefore, in the selection process equal weight will be given to scientific and pedagogical accomplishment.
The candidate should have a strong and well-documented publishing record with several published papers in refereed statistical journals. The quality of the journals themselves and their relevance to fields of statistics will also be considered.
The overall evaluation of pedagogical qualifications includes teaching experience and pedagogical skills. Teaching experience in areas relevant to the position are particularly meritorious.
A PhD degree or experience at the post-doctoral level outside Lund University is a strong merit.

An associate senior lecturer can apply for promotion to a permanent position as a senior lecturer if she or he fulfills the qualification requirements (see below). Applications must be submitted to the School of Economics and Management after three years and six months of the employment at the latest. The application for promotion will then be subject to an extensive evaluation process.
Qualification requirements and criteria for promotion
The requirements for employment as senior lecturer are:
• Scientific skills. The applicant is required to demonstrate high level of research activity during the employment at Lund University.
In the overall evaluation of scientific skills, particular weight will be given to the applicant's publication record, which should include at least two papers in highly ranked journals with international peer-review system. The activity level in terms of participation and presentation of papers at international conferences will also be evaluated.
• Teaching skills. For promotion, the applicant requires good course evaluations and an active participation in pedagogical development. Applicants who do not have Swedish as their mother tongue are expected to be able to teach in Swedish at the time of promotion.
