Business Division Asset Development runs major development projects and research and development initiatives in Vattenfall. Our mission is to safely deliver the right projects on time, within budget and to specifications. Our task is to ensure consistent portfolio management, development of benchmark project skills and control, as well as increased efficiency of R&D.

Asset Development consists of five Business Units: Engineering, R&D Projects, Thermal Projects, Nuclear and Hydro Projects and Project Governance & Improvement and employs approximately 2000 employees located mainly in Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands.

Engineering is a Business Unit within Business Division Asset Development and a centre of excellence within the Vattenfall Group. Our R&D specialists, engineers and management consultants deliver highly qualified solutions within engineering and management consulting, thereby creating value for our clients within Vattenfall.
Engineering consists of four Business Areas. We in Business Area R&D conduct development projects in the entire Vattenfall Group and have a total of some 170 employees. We have offices in Sweden, Germany, Denmark and the UK.

Power Technology section within Business Area R&D provides electrical engineering competences for many areas with stakeholders in Nuclear, Hydro, Wind, Thermal, Distribution and future technologies such as E-mobility and Ocean Energy.

We are looking for

ASSISTANT R&D ENGINEERMain tasks

The section needs reinforcement related mainly to development of Smart Grids, expansion of wind power, but also modeling and simulation of behavior of power system and interruption with Vattenfall generation assets.

You will be working in projects together with more senior colleagues and will have the possibility to work with one or several of the following areas:

• Electrical solutions for offshore wind power: HVDC, internal grids, platforms, cables
• Power system analysis, focus on integration of renewable energy sources
• Development and implementation of Smart Grid solutions
• Primary equipment, substation design, asset management
• Possible future services by providing flexible power generation of the Vattenfall portfolio.

You will participate in different development projects taking the role depending on level of your competence and experience. The projects vary from small individual tasks to larger projects/programs (including EU cooperation projects) involving a number of participants and running during several years. Qualifications You have academic degree in electrical engineering and strong interest in development issues. Experience in power system analysis and simulation software (as PSS/E, PSCAD or Power Factory) is seen as a merit. A good command of written and spoken English is required for the position; skills in German are an asset.

You are a goal oriented and self-driven team player. You have an ability to analyze complex issues and work in a structured way. You have ability to combine creativity with a well-structured way of handling known and unforeseen issues.
