You will be part of Substation Automation Products in Västerås. ABB?s global center for protection and control within the transmission area is in Västerås. We have approximately 200 employees who develop, manufacture and market products as well as offer comprehensive service to power customers worldwide. We work in close collaboration with ABB units in 80 countries and 95 % of the sales are exported. ABB is the world leader within protection and control with several groundbreaking technological innovations, which through quick fault detection has improved the availability and efficiency of power transmission networks.

Tasks
As Application Engineer you will get the chance to build long-term relations with customers all around the world. You will focus on the marketing of product, function and feature within an assigned region. The position allows you to build strong technical relations with your clients. The development of applications that solve customer needs in protection and control of power networks will form part of your responsibility. You will use tools such as ABB?s PCM600 for application engineering of products. Part of your challenge will be to give product training and participate in the approval process of products for your specific markets. Furthermore you will provide your clients with guidance on choosing products and features. You will also participate in the tendering process.

Requirements
You have at least a BSc in Electrical Engineering with specialization in power systems. It is advantageous with knowledge in protection and control methods of power networks. Equally positive is experience from practical work in application engineering, e.g. from substation automation systems. A background in protection and control methodology is also meriting, as is knowledge of computer communication systems such as IEC 61850-1. Since the position entails an international regional responsibility, excellent English skills are a must. Proficiency in either German or French is also a requirement whereas knowledge of Spanish is an additional qualification. To be successful as Application Engineer you need an open-minded personality and to enjoy extensive traveling. You easily make contact with people and distinguish yourself as an honest and responsible individual.
