Picsearch are looking for smart software developers with a strong academic background to apply themselves to our exciting intellectual software challenges. A computing education is beneficial but not essential if knowledge from another similar discipline can be used to develop quality software solving complicated problems. A strong track record using your theoretical skills to deliver real world results rather than pure research is important. Relevant development experience in UNIX environments is required, preferably with an emphasis on open source tools.
Required skills and knowledge:
• Relevant PhD, Master level degree or equivalent with strong grades
• Development in C++
• UNIX development experience (including GCC, make etc)
• Strong experience with problem analysis, statistics and algorithms
• Strong written and spoken English
Preferred skills and knowledge:
• Large-scale computing experience including cluster computing and large data sets
• Python experience
• Practical use of Scrum / Agile or similar development methodologies
Professionally you are comfortable delivering to deadlines by managing your own time and priorities well, you can handle stress and are both productive and responsible. You contribute well in teams with clear communication and a positive approach to problem solving. You have a wide knowledge and quickly learn new skills.

We handle several hundred million search queries every month and therefore we have high demands regarding performance, scalability and reliability. In addition to search services we provide online video solutions which power several high profile websites in both within and outside of Sweden.
Picsearch was founded in 2000 and has steadily grown since then. We are now 20 employees in Sweden and profitable. We are located in fresh offices at Liljeholmen’s center in Stockholm with a view over a lakeside park.
