PRESENTATION
Description of company
Ericsson is a world-leading provider of telecommunications equipment and related services to mobile and fixed-network operators globally. More than 1 000 networks in 140 countries use our network equipment and 40 percent of all mobile calls are made through our systems. We are one of the few companies worldwide that can offer end-to-end solutions for all major mobile communication standards.
In order to enable mobile broadband, Ericsson is now focusing on the evolution of 3G, where there is a great need for new optimal algorithms. Ericsson is an industry leader in this area. There is a strong commercial focus, with many customers demanding improved performance and new functionality.
Job description
The radio resource management (RRM) group is responsible for all phases of the RRM algorithm process, from the creation of new ideas through to standardization, product specification and performance in the field.
When evaluating algorithms, we cannot build prototypes or wait for products in order to assess system performance. As a result, many of the early design decisions rely on performance investigations carried out using radio network simulations. These are usually done to estimate the gain from a new algorithm or to decide between different algorithms.
We are now looking to strengthen our position in simulation and radio network performance in order to ensure our continuing world leadership in mobile broadband.
In this position, you will be responsible for the complete system aspects of the solutions you are developing. As such, you have to understand the business case, create optimal solutions, ensure world-leading performance and support standardization in line with the evolution plans.
In the RRM group, you will work with the latest technical challenges, allowing you to constantly develop your knowledge and competence. This is a central role with interfaces towards other units, such as product management, Ericsson Research and standardization. You will be expected to use your leadership skills in the challenge of taking a solution all the way to a working system in the field.
Qualification (formal education needed)
A Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or the equivalent is required.
Competence
We are looking for someone with at least three years experience of working with telecom or radio. Experience in simulation and modeling is an advantage. You should be good at driving technical issues and injecting ideas and solutions into your projects. You should also be able to analyze features and solutions from a cost/benefit perspective, and have strong cooperation and communication skills. You must be innovative and technically competent, as well as having initiative, drive and leadership skills. You need experience from programming in Matlab, C++ and Java.
