Position Summary
The Cloud Management Research Field within Research Area Cloud Technologies is dealing with a set of research challenges mainly within the area of service assurance and service fulfillment for network enabled clouds. The unit approaches cloud management with an holistic e2e view where e2e customer experience is to be fulfilled by connecting the application layer with the cloud and network infrastructure layer.
Management for network enabled clouds are exposed to a whole range of challenges including: a network with diverse set of services, public and private clouds, dynamicity of services flows and resource establishment, increased needs for adopted measurement frameworks for new technologies, impact of CDN networks, 5G impacts on cloud, mobile internet growth, introduction of small cells, 50B devices, M2M, quality of experience and virtualization of networks.
The unit is currently engaged in SDN and cloud service assurance research as well as stream mining and analytics of big OAM data research. Main activities projects at this point time are: FP 7 project Unify ? SDN Management, Performance monitoring for cloud & SDN, REALM - Real time analytics for Cloud Network Management, Stream mining of monitoring data including fault correlation, and a project focused on management of energy optimized networks.
The Cloud management research field is actively developing a strong research ecosystem and is engaging this ecosystem in multiple national and international projects This opens up a huge opportunity for cloud management research that can either be applied or exploratory in nature.
We are now recruiting a researcher who has a genuine interest in developing new and innovative solutions for cloud management as well as a strong drive and ability to implement ideas in working prototypes. You have a drive to be at the forefront of technology and writing patents is likely an area of interest for you. You may also be involved in architectural work for network enabled clouds. We work in teams with a high degree of individual responsibility and authority. We welcome a will to lead master thesis students, participate or lead research programs. You will be exposed to a wide variety of tasks and will interact with other research organizations and customers.
