Industry Area Mediacom is one out of three Industry Areas in Group Function Technology responsible for Ericsson's technology direction related to Media (the other two being Datacom and Telecom).
The work carried out by the Industry Area units is done by running studies that have been determined as highly critical for Ericsson to establish an industry position to secure Ericsson's continuous technology leadership. The result of the studies is typically a decision of what new technologies Ericsson should bring forward and how this should be done to secure a broad ecosystem support. Typical questions to respond to include; should new standards be developed or are there ways to bring the new technology forward through proprietary development carried out by Ericsson itself or by cooperating with other industry leaders?

Thus the work is carried out in close cooperation with other industry leaders that together with Ericsson has the ability to shape the industry such as leading operators, semiconductor vendors, device OEMs, operating system vendors and other technology leaders.

Governance of Industry Area Mediacom is managed through the Industry Area steering meeting, where GFT unit heads as well as stakeholders from the Business Units (typically PA or SM heads) assigns tasks/studies to the Industry Area team and eventually approves recommendations resulting from the studies lead by the Industry Area team.

Qualifications:

• Working in close collaboration with the CTO, create the Mediacom Industry Area in terms of finalising the mission and scope of function as well as the hiring of the team.

• Define and implement the business processes of the newly created organisation in line with overall group function Technology objectives ensuring the appropriate touch points with other parts of the organisation.

• Drive the strategic, long term vision and planning for Ericsson?s technology organisation for the Media sector.

• Represent Ericsson externally, with customers and at appropriate trade fairs, both for information gathering as well as information sharing.

• Coordinate multiple projects in parallel, each exploring different aspects of the Mediacom domain.
