At ABB, we have the clear goal of driving diversity and inclusion across all dimensions: gender, LGBTQ+, abilities, ethnicity and generations. Together, we are embarking on a journey where each and every one of us, individually and collectively, welcomes and celebrates individual differences.
You will be a part of ABB's Measurement and Analytics division in Västerås. Our new Strategic Thrust means ambitious product development of electromagnetic force- and dimension transducers. We are now looking for a physicist who wants to grow into one of our future specialists. You will be challenged by complex and very interesting issues at the core of our business. "We proudly measure things others can't", and with your help the customer value will improve even further!
This position reports to R&D Team Lead.
Your responsibilities
You will develop methods and technologies for identifying, measuring, and understanding very complex electromagnetic phenomena.
Your work will result in measurement products for our customers.
Our business also relies heavily on understanding our customers applications and needs.
Your fields of work will be very wide and in close collaboration with colleagues all along the value chain.
You will be part of an R&D team with a unique width and depth of expertise within mathematics, material science, physics, mechanics, electronics, software, and all joined in applied electromagnetic measuring technology.
You will be profoundly challenged in all engineering areas, some perhaps outside of your expertise. This is what will allow you to grow into one of our experts!
Your background
If you have at least a Master's degree in Physics with specialization towards e.g. material, applied mathematics, solid state physics, electromagnetics, and you are pragmatic and result oriented, you will love this job.
You probably have a very good phenomenology intuition since it is impossible to know everything, but you need to speak the language of natural sciencies.
You must have a good command of Swedish due to complex and abstract challenges, and you also need to be proficient in English as most of our customers are abroad.
You do not have to master everything to apply for this position. You will be introduced to the more esoteric electromagnetic aspects by inspiring and highly capable colleagues.
Don't hesitate, if you are a curious and capable scientific engineer, apply for this job.
