As Tech Director, you are responsible for the code of the Tarsier games. As a veteran engineer, you know what works and what doesn't, and how to get the most out of your team of programmers while maintaining a cordial and professional relationship with art, design, sound and production. Your years of experience have enriched you with a fountain of knowledge that you can call upon to solve a wide array of challenges, ranging from code solutions to people management.
Together with your team, and with input from the other disciplines, you determine which technical solutions will allow Tarsier to achieve the best results, both in terms of time and quality. At the same time, you intuitively think ahead and prepare the studio for the future, researching new developments and proactively preparing for our next games.
With the producers, you help plan our roadmaps and make resource estimates. With your leads and seniors, you run a team of professional, quality-first coders and ensure they can work seamlessly together like a well-oiled machine.
Responsibilities include:
Manage the various Tarsier programming teams to meet goals and milestones
Establish and propagate a high bar for coding standards and best practices
Investigate and research emerging technologies in the industry that can be leveraged to propel Tarsier to the forefront of game development
Lead the education and mentoring of both new and old members of the Tarsier programming team
Ensure, encourage and participate in the recruitment of the next generation of Tarsier programmers
Assist the team at all levels to make sure that information is both sent and received for all relevant parties
Arbitrate key decisions that involve programming issues
Work with production to plan effectively and accurately for future projects
Qualifications:
A strong leader and mentor with experience running a team of 15+ programmers
Excellent diplomatic and communication skills
Experience going through a full dev cycle, from concept to release, on Console
Currently in a Lead or Director role on a game development team.
Good knowledge of C++
Fluent in English, both verbal and written
Willing to relocate to Malmö, Sweden (or commute within the area)
Pluses:
Training in people management
Experience with AI, memory management, CPU & GPU optimization.
Developed Atmospheric or Action Adventure games
Experience with additional middleware systems
Knowledge of UE4
