IESH is a school of approximately 570 students with two, music teachers in the Music Department. We are an international teaching staff following the Swedish National Curriculum. The school is located a 3 minute walk from the Hässelby Strand tunnelbana station. You could be a great addition to our team if you are passionate about teaching and developing a music program that inspires students. We are looking for a certified Music teacher for grades 4-9 who would like to be a part of the continued development of the music program, and with showcasing student music in the school. The position is full-time, teaching 100%
Key qualifications are:
• Dedication to the IES Ethos and vision. Clear and visible leadership in the classroom creating an environment where students can learn and you can teach.
• Music pedagog with documented experience in vocal instruction.
• Experienced in classroom instruction, as well as developing individual student's singing and song performances.
• Proficiency in teaching and developing students abilities in piano & guitar.
• Collaboration, flexibility and an open mindset to ensure all are able to follow the teaching plan that delivers continuity throughout grades 4 to 9.
As a person you are flexible, a dedicated team player and have a positive approach to your subject which leads to you being creative and willing to go the extra mile for your colleagues and students. You have the tools to create a good learning environment in the classroom and your clear leadership and teaching style are the key to your students' success. You can differentiate your teaching to reach all students and you work inclusively. Continuous formative feedback to students ensures the students steady development and is a natural part of your teaching. We are looking for someone with a Teaching Degree / Bachelor of Education who has either English or Swedish as your first language.
Included in the work description, is the pastoral care and mentorship for half of your mentor class. This consists of 16 students belonging to one of the year levels that you teach. In this capacity you are the key person responsible for your mentor students academic and social development. You will have steady and ongoing support and interactions with your mentor students. You will maintain regular contact with the mentor students' parents by speaking to them at least once a month. You will lead development talk meetings with your students and parents. You will also be responsible for keeping your mentor students' teachers informed of important information.
