Job description
The Student support counsellor works within the area of student well-being, psycho-social and social emotional learning. The role of the student support counsellor is to work with proactive measures on a group and whole school level, to highlight and offer support to individual students by providing practical strategies that support and strengthen wellbeing. An important part of the role of the Student support counsellor is to be the contact with external stakeholders, eg Social services and BUB, and provide students and guardians with information and contacts to relevant experts.
In this position you will
- Work as an active part in the Student support team
- Have a special responsibility for work related to social emotional learning, equal treatment work (värdegrundsarbete) and anti-bullying work
- Work in close collaboration with the ISLK leadership team and teaching staff and Student support team
- Collaborate with external support services (i.e. BUP, Social services)
- Guiding and supporting individual students and groups of students
Required qualification and experience
- Higher education degree relevant to the position (eg Swedish Socionomutbildning)
- Fluent in English and Swedish. Excellent oral and writing communication skills in English and Swedish. (Fluent or proficiency in English due to the international nature of the school, and Swedish proficiency for navigating local/regional support systems (BUP, social services)
- Maintaining high standards of professional practice
- Excellent collaboration skills
- Proactive and responsive approach
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Ability to collaborate with external authorities with a professional approach
- Experience of working in the Swedish system or a similar system
Desired
- Social worker (socionom) with experience of working in elementary school context
- Experience of working in a school environment with students 5-16 years of age
- Experience of working in a multicultural and multilingual community
