Electrical, Electronic, E-Propulsion (EEEP) is a unit within Volvo Cars Research & Development Division, delivering solutions for Infotainment & Connectivity, Electrical Propulsion & Electrical Architecture Solutions. The Strategy & Concepts is a department within EEEP responsible for creating strategic technology roadmaps defining how the electrical system shall evolve over time and incorporating these plans into future vehicle programs.
As an Infotainment & Connectivity Strategist within Strategy & Concepts you will play an important role in defining the product strategy for in-car infotainment and connectivity in a broader scope. You will work in a cross-functional way, working closely with engineers responsible for technical development of different infotainment and connectivity systems, and with business strategy teams, product strategy, service and parts, etc. incorporating their business needs into the technology roadmap. You will actively engage with Volvo Cars tech centers in Copenhagen and California incorporating their customer and market insights and out-of-the-box approach to future concepts into the technology roadmap. The job involves exploring market trends in the consumer electronic and technology space and how they will shape the infotainment and connectivity offer in the car for the next 10 years. You will also drive the annual update process for the technology roadmap and working on forecasting annual budget and prioritizing distribution of funds to different advanced engineering projects supporting critical milestones in the technology roadmap.
Main responsibilities
• Monitor high level market trends
• Actively pull information from consumer insights, supplier trends, competitor benchmarking and future trend insights from high tech firms and academia
• Build a strong working collaboration internally with IT, VMCC USA and Copenhagen Team. Use this network to align on a common technology roadmap for infotainment and connectivity
• Collaborate with Marketing & Sales organisation on business concepts and offer structures needed to support Technology Cycle Plan
• Develop a prioritisation criterion for on-going and future research and advanced engineering activities in Infotainment & Connectivity space.
• Work closely with Infotainment & Connectivity System Development team to initiate strategic external partnerships and to start up proof-of-concept projects, critical for building know-how & expertise for the next product development step
Required qualifications
• M.Sc. Electrical Engineering or Information Technology
• At least 7 years of relevant working experience
• Interest and knowledge of infotainment and connectivity trends in the automotive industry
• Proven skills in strategy development and / or business planning
• A strong background in technologies related to Consumer Electronics, Telecommunication or Automotive Infotainment & Connectivity Systems
• Fluent in English, spoken and written
• Experience from working with technology & consumer research companies is highly desired
• Knowledge of data mining & cloud networking companies is meritorious
• Knowledge of vehicle networks is preferred
