Indirect Purchasing (IDP) is responsible to source all facilities, material, services and IT for Volvo Cars and also to provide ongoing support for related projects and vehicle programs. IDP is responsible for development of supplier collaboration together with internal stakeholders in order to reach Volvo Car Group's cost, quality and environmental requirements. We are 80 employees covering the European scope of 26 BSEK in spend divided in three sections Machinery & Tooling, Marketing, Services & IT, Logistics & Facilities of which this position as Strategic Buyer belong to the Logistics group.
In the section Logistics Purchasing you will join a diverse team of 9 skilled buyers in a dynamic environment where we develop the logistics future of Volvo Car Group. We cover transport, packaging and logistics service's needs, such as sequencing/crossdocking/storage, for inbound flows from part suppliers to Volvo Car's plants and also storage services of spare parts in aftermarket business. We manage a spend of approximatively 4 BSEK, mainly in Europe.
As a Strategic Buyer you will lead teams of stakeholders and buyers thru very demanding projects and learn how to get everyone aligned and motivated to deliver on the plan that you defined in order to take Volvo Car Group a step forward in terms of efficiency, precision and cost. The right candidate ideally has a background within logistics, purchasing and/or management consulting and a good knowledge of purchasing/supply chain & project management but your main asset is can-do attitude, engagement skills & analytics.
Main responsibilities
* Develop, sell, govern and execute purchasing strategies
* Create and maintain commercial relations with suppliers and stakeholders
* Lead cross-functional sourcing projects
* Challenge status quo
Required qualifications
* University education, Master's degree in Engineering and/or Business or similar fields of study
* Strong record of academic achievement and clear demonstration of leadership in a work, academic, and/or extracurricular setting
* Ability to identify opportunities and take a leadership role in exploring new ideas
* Proven experience in applying problem solving skills (quantitative, conceptual, analytical)
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)
* Experience from Analytics/Big data is meritorious
* Experience of Transformational journeys is meritorious
* Previous experience of Lean implementations and strategy development will be an asset
* Coaching experience is an advantage
