What you'll do
As the Database Tech Lead you will play a critical role in designing, optimizing, and maintaining our database systems, ensuring they meet high availability, performance, and scalability standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team of database administrators and engineers responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of database systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs, plan database solutions, and align them with the overall infrastructure strategy.
Define and implement best practices for database architecture, performance tuning, security, and disaster recovery.
Oversee the selection and implementation of database technologies, ensuring they meet business requirements and industry standards.
Monitor database performance, conduct capacity planning, and proactively address bottlenecks and issues.
Design and implement data backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
Lead efforts to secure and protect sensitive data, implementing access controls and encryption as necessary.
Mentor and train team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues and provide on-call support when needed.
Collaborate with vendors and partners to evaluate new technologies and solutions for potential integration.
What you'll bring
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience as a database administrator or engineer, with a track record of managing and optimizing databases at scale.
Strong expertise in database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or NoSQL databases.
Leadership experience, including managing teams, setting priorities, and guiding the development of team members.
In-depth knowledge of database performance tuning, security best practices, and disaster recovery strategies.
Experience with cloud-based database services and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to data integrity and security.
