Background
The site in Malmo has produced over many years decorative paints, resins and coatings for industrial customers in the metal and wood industry.
In 2016 AkzoNobel in Malmö started to integrate the multi-site with two teams (Decorative Paints and Performance Coatings) into one organization: "One Sege". As stand-alone units they had their own culture and organizational setup and with "One Sege" the goal is to make the organization more effective and competitive. This is a great opportunity to shape the site organization and culture ready for a strong future! Site Sege is a strategic site in Europe within AkzoNobel which likely grants Malmö more products, volumes and investments.
Several parts of the operating process are manual hence there is a big potential to raise efficiency through people management and Operations Excellence with clear structure, standardized production processes and further leading the site as one engaged team.
The job and the responsibilities
The Site Managers primary responsibility is to manage the operations and site Sege to assure reliable production and delivery of good quality products. An ongoing year on year improvement of the cost competitiveness of the site is key and the site manager is expected to develop and implement a strategic plan for the site development. An engaging and result oriented leadership style is a key capability of the leader to ensure an empowered and enthusiastic site team.
The position has seven direct reports covering the following functions; Production Paints & Coatings, Production Resins, Engineering & Maintenance, Quality, HSE, Continuous improvement, Site management assistant and approximately 300 indirect reports. The Site Manager reports to Regional Manufacturing Director NW Europe, based in the Netherlands.
Who are we looking for?
You probably have a University Degree in Engineering or equivalent with a minimum 8-10 years of experience in managing production. We value previous experience in automotive/FMCG or process industry. You have a broad and holistic view and understanding in all functions and vast knowledge within Operations Excellence and continuous improvement/Lean production.
You 're a natural, enthusiastic and inspirational leader. You have the ability to develop and communicate a 'go forward' plan uniting direct and indirect team members on the path forward. This also requires decisiveness and clarity in managing expectations. We expect you to have a successful proven track record of cultural change.
A site will not be successful in isolation and you will have a keen interest in the business and shape great cooperation with other functions in the organization e.g. the commercial and supply chain team, quality management team, the resins team and various supporting functions. External stake holders need to be well managed and cooperated with such as unions, authorities, schools and universities etc.
You need to have a good analytical skillset, be well organized and have a great ability to create structure and prioritize actions. You 're experienced in working in an international organization and communicate fluently in English and much preferable fluently in Swedish as well.
