Proposed engagement
Full-time, based in Gothenburg, Stockholm, or Hudiksvall, Sweden
Background
Within many of the R&D projects at the department Sensor Systems at RISE Acreo it is of importance to maximize the potential performance of sensory systems. This sets specific requirements on the design of a sensor element, the utilized system electronics and the packaging, but also, analysis and control of the sensor signals play a central part in the system design. Most systems are required to give reliable output signals in a real-time environment and the need for self-calibrating systems will increase in future scenarios.
Since the department also focuses on Micro- and Nanotechnologies, the many different types of sensors in micro-format that we utilize, brings a great variety of new challenges from a signal-processing and data-modelling point of view. The methods to be considered range from statistical modelling (machine learning), Kalman filtering techniques, feed-back control-loop algorithms and advanced simulations.
Currently, we are developing machine-learning algorithms for classifications of motion data from wearable sensors in order to improve treatment for patients suffering from Parkinson's disease and epilepsy. Further, we are also working on the design of Inertial Navigation Systems, including sensor element design, embedded control-loops and navigation algorithms.
Tasks
You will design methods, techniques and algorithms to track, control, determine and combine physical quantities from different sensor outputs.
Typically, you will work closely with researchers, electronic engineers and application experts to determine relevant model-equations and data-analysis methods. Together with the development team you will make decisions on complexity of the algorithms and subsequently implement them into suitable hardware platforms. Numerical simulations and data modelling will also be important tools for designing such sensor systems.
The applications are ranging from classification of sensor data based on statistical modelling and machine learning, inertial navigation using advance filtering methods and sensor fusion, to electromagnetic sensor design.
Background requirements
You have proven mathematical skills in numerical methods. You have a PhD/Msc, or similar in one of the relevant disciplines and some years of work experience from real-time signal-processing or data-modelling and adaptation into firmware or equivalent. Experience in applied machine learning and AI and/or inertial navigation systems is an advantage as well as experience with measurements.
You are a self-motivated team player who takes responsibility and initiative in order to reach the set goals ensuring successful project deliveries. You like to work in small and multidisciplinary teams with a can-do attitude in a set of varying projects.
Well written and spoken English is required. Good communication and presentation skills are also important.
For further information regarding this position, please contact Björn Samel, Dept. Manager - Sensor Systems: 070 475 00 81 or Christian Jonasson, Group manager - Signal processing & Simulation: 070 915 18 41.
We would like to have your application by the 19th of September 2018 at the latest.
Union representatives are: Lazaros Tsantaridis, 010-516 62 21 och Linda Ikatti, 010-516 51 61.
