Avalanche Studios Group is looking for a passionate and highly creative Senior Vegetation Artist. For this role you will be tasked with crafting cutting edge game environments. The ideal candidate will have experience creating natural environments and organic terrain and is experienced with modelling and texturing organic assets. He/she also has knowledge, and an interest, in procedural systems for distributing vegetation and textures on terrain (such as Houdini for example).

The candidate must feel comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams, who they will be working with to create astounding, beautiful open worlds. They will be expected to help drive the quality benchmark for the discipline whilst managing their time to match the different projects goals.

The Position
For this position you will work with teams and colleagues to create art for our game-worlds and all of its components. You will work on vegetation assets as well as with our procedural systems for vegetation distribution. You are responsible for taking your work/assets from conceptual mockup and all the way to releasable quality. This incorporates the visuals but also all performance aspects as well as any potential setup for destruction and ingame animation (ex wind and interaction). As a Senior Vegetation artist you will also be expected to collaborate with our technical teams to develop our tools and pipelines. In this way you will be part of driving our quality benchmark forward.

Required qualifications

• Excellent modeling and texturing skills using Autodesk Maya and Adobe Photoshop
• Experience with Speedtree
• Experience with physically-based rendering
• Experience of working with performance and LODs
• A strong reel/portfolio with clearly-documented artistic accomplishments
• A good sense of technical know-how and functional problem-solving
• Interest in working with procedural systems for terrain and vegetation (ex Houdini)
• Passion for making and playing games

Desired qualifications

• Experience of working on AAA titles and with at least one open-world game shipped (or equivalent)
• Experience in mentoring, supporting or leading team members
• Experience with Zbrush
• Experience with Allegorithmic Substance Designer and/or Painter.
• Experience with photogrammetric asset creation workflows
• Ability to communicate and realize an artistic vision

We can offer you a varied job where you work closely with a fun and experienced team with extremely competent people in a highly specialized and unique development environment. Since Avalanche Studios is Sweden's biggest independent studio you will have unique possibilities to have a big influence on today's and tomorrow's game development.
