Job Description
About the team:
The Store Payments Enablement team is a key part of H&M's Business Tech organization, operating within the Product Development & Engineering Center. Our mission is to deliver secure, modular payment solutions that balance cost efficiency with competitive time-to-market delivery. As a global team, we support card and alternative payment methods across all H&M stores, brands, and markets.
Led by a dedicated Product Manager, our vision is to enable fast, secure, and frictionless payments. Driven by a passion for payment technology, we deliver best-in-class services for our customers and stakeholders.

About the role:
As a Senior Technical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, and development of new payment technologies to be introduced at H&M. You will work with a variety of payment technologies, including collaborating closely with Payment Service Providers, to deliver innovative, scalable, and secure solutions that enhance the in-store payment experience for our customers.
Collaboration is central to this role. You will partner with teams across the organization, including those responsible for customer experience, core platform technology, technical infrastructure, and IT operations. Additionally, you will engage with Treasury, Cyber Security, Procurement, and Regional Teams to ensure alignment and integration of payment solutions with H&M's broader business and operational objectives.
In your role, you will combine your technical engineering expertise with deep business knowledge to design, develop, and integrate complex systems-both from vendors and in-house. You will support the full lifecycle of payment technologies, focusing on accessibility, optimization, and security. Your work will ensure the delivery of reliable, mission-critical solutions that create value for H&M's customers and the business, while continuously driving improvements to meet evolving needs.
Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise & Vendor Collaboration: Act as a technical advisor in commercial negotiations, procurement, and escalations with Payment Service Providers (PSPs), Point-of-Sale (POS) vendors, and other partners.
Requirements Gathering & Documentation: Capture and document both functional and non-functional requirements in collaboration with Business Experts, Retail Project Leads, Regional Teams and other stakeholders to ensure global and local needs are met.
Development & Integration: Ensure the implementation, configuration, and integration of payment solutions with POS systems, PSPs, and internal platforms, supporting both legacy modernization and new technology adoption.
Testing & Quality Assurance: Design, test, and validate payment solutions, maintaining test environments with payment terminals, networks, and integrations to support stability, scalability, and security.
Problem Management: Identify, analyze, and resolve payment-related issues, including root-cause analysis of larger payment related problems in partnership with vendors and relevant stakeholders.
Security & Compliance: Ensure all payment solutions adhere to PCI-DSS, GDPR, ISO, and other security and regulatory requirements, maintaining a secure and compliant payment environment.
Technical Leadership & Knowledge Sharing: Serve as the team's technical subject matter expert, producing documentation, and driving best practices in system performance, automation, and analytics.
Project & Stakeholder Engagement: Drive technical projects from inception to completion, engage with management and other key stakeholders on progress and achievements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maximize business value.
